Are you a Minnesota Wild fan? Have you ever wondered about the meaning behind the Minnesota Wild Logo? There are actually three Minnesota Wild Logos, all of which contain four team colors: deep green, iron red, wheat, and yellow/gold. The Minnesota Wild Logo consists of the head of a bear which displays the bear’s profile which is primarily green. Within the bear’s profile are evergreen trees which make up a forest-like setting. The bear’s mouth is innovatively styled so that the mouth forms a river with several twists and turns. Meanwhile, the bear’s eye is created with a North Star in the sky, and a sun is positioned in the sky, all of which is contained within the bear head profile.
Everything included in the Minnesota Wild Logo alludes to the state of Minnesota; the logo is purposefully designed to emphasis team spirit and the affinity for the state of Minnesota. This is not surprising since the official state sport in Minnesota, as recognized by the state legislature in 2008, is none other than Hockey. The Northern star that forms the eye of the bear in the Minnesota Wild Logo has significance as it alludes to one of the many state of Minnesota’s nicknames: “The North Star State.” Interestingly, the North Star eye formation in the bear head profile also alludes to the state of Minnesota’s French motto: “L'Étoile du Nord,” which translates as “The Star of the North.” Further, the North Star also pays a small tribute to the history of the hockey game in Minnesota; the Northstars hockey team was one time a Minnesota team that moved to Dallas after being bought by Norm Green. In a similar fashion, the winding river design that forms the bear’s mouth also alludes to one of the state of Minnesota’s nicknames: the “"Land of 10,000 Lakes.” The line of pine trees within the Minnesota Wild Logo is also suggestive and represents the state tree of Minnesota, the Norway Pine, or Red Pine. |
